Changes In Indiana Law Wording Passes Legislature

A measure that would clean up archaic words and male-only references in Indiana’s laws has been approved by the Legislature and is on its way to the governor’s desk.

The bill was approved unanimously in both the House and Senate.  It will replace words such as “herein, hereafter, hereinafter” and others throughout Indiana code with more familiar terms.

It will also remove the instances where “his” is used to describe the duties of a state officeholder. Currently, five of the seven Indiana statewide elected officials are women
