Gas City Man Pleads Guilty To Unemployment Fraud

A Gas City man has pleaded guilty to charges of Insurance Fraud for allegedly receiving unemployment benefits while he was working full time.

41-year old Gas City resident Jason Scharnowske pled guilty to unemployment insurance fraud in Marion County Superior Court. Through the use of agency records, an Indiana Department of Workforce Development employee began an investigation and determined that Scharnowske was working and receiving full-time wages while claiming unemployment insurance benefits.

Scharnowske was sentenced to 545 days of probation and ordered to re-pay more than 14-thousand dollars for benefits he illegally collected.
