Blackford County authorities say they have made an arrest in Sunday night’s non-specific threat on social media that was aimed at Blackford County Schools.
School officials say an anonymous announcement appeared on social media Sunday night and used a stock picture of a weapon found on the internet. Overnight, authorities arrested the person believed responsible for the post, which they say was aimed specifically at Blackford Junior High School. That person has not been publicly identified.
Blackford County Superintendent Chad Yencer said no specific students or staff were mentioned or threatened in the post, but said school officials were taking it seriously.
All Blackford County Schools are in session today, but there are extra safety measures in place. Extra law enforcement will be present at all Blackford County schools today and students at the junior high and high schools have a limited number of entry points…plus they’re required to pass through metal detector screenings when entering the buildings.
