Yesterday, Gas City and the Mississinewa Community School district announced joint plans to build a $10 million auditorium.
The facility would seat 1,200 people and would be run by the school district, while also serving as an arena for professional performances, in addition to student performances.
Both Gas City and the school district believe the development, which will be located on the city’s east side, will attract business development.
The building includes a meeting room to seat 300 people as well as a kitchen.
According to Mayor Larry Leach, the development will not cause a tax increase and will be funded through TIF.
An aggressive completion date of the project is Fall of 2020, according to City Engineer Ken Smith.
