MCS: Student attacked with ‘small blade’

On Tuesday afternoon there was a student assault involving a “small blade” at Marion Regional Career Center, according to Marion Community School officials.

According to the news release, Marion High School administrators were made aware of an argument between two students in a classroom that led to an assault with a small blade.

“Administrators took action immediately to remove one student from the school, and the other student was treated at the hospital for a minor injury,” the school said.

Marion Community Schools is cooperating with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate this incident.

“Marion Community Schools takes all reports of threats seriously,” the news release added. “Safety of our students is top priority. All reports of threats are investigated. We are committed to a safe and healthy learning environment.”

Marion Community Schools also urges anyone who notices anything suspicious while at one of their schools or at a school event to contact the nearest MCS employee immediately.

In addition, they ask anyone who knows anything that threatens the safety of our students or schools to contact the school or district administrators at any time.

Their anonymous student and school safety hotline is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call or text 765-997-8585 or email hotline@marion.k12.in.us.
