Colin Smith, author and lead pastor at The Orchard Evangelical Free Church in Arlington Heights, Illinois, will be the speaker for Taylor University’s spring Spiritual Renewal chapel series, beginning today.
Smith will speak during Wednesday’s chapel hours at 10:00 a.m., and for evening services on Monday (7:30 pm) and Tuesday (6:30 pm). Each service will be held in Taylor’s Rediger Chapel/Auditorium.
Smith’s four-part series, Faith that Lasts, will explore passages from the New Testament books of John and Hebrews.
In addition to his role as lead pastor at The Orchard’s multi-campus church, located throughout the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Smith is president of the nationally broadcast radio program Unlocking the Bible.
Smith served as senior pastor of the Enfield Evangelical Free Church in London before coming to the United States in 1996. He was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland, and received his Bachelor of Theology and Master of Philosophy degrees at the London School of Theology.
The author of several books, Smith’s titles include: Momentum: Pursuing God’s Blessings Through the Beatitudes; Heaven, How I Got Here: The Story of the Thief on the Cross; and Jonah: Navigating a God-Centered Life; among several other works. He has also written web articles as a council member of The Gospel Coalition.
Smith and his wife, Karen, live in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The couple has married sons (both Taylor alumni), and five granddaughters.
