67 Grant County investors celebrated for $94 million in investment

The Growth Council and STAR Financial Bank hosted the 21st Annual Investor’s Awards Luncheon at the Tomahawk Lounge this on Tuesday.

Sixty-seven Grant County businesses received awards for their investment of at least $25,000 or more into the county’s economy in 2019, resulting in $94 million in total investment.

Over 120 residents, business leaders, and elected officials attended the event to celebrate investment in Grant County, providing an afternoon of celebration and an energy of excitement as the community considers the upcoming decade of positive economic prospects.

Mikayla Marazzi of the Grant County Economic Growth Council delivered the event’s opening remarks: “This is such a fun event because we get to recognize hard work and commitment to the Grant County community. The Growth Council is committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere for investment, and we are so glad that those of you in this room have chosen to invest in Grant County.”

One of the honoree’s, FC Tucker Realty, recently relocated to downtown Marion. “We are thrilled with our new location downtown in the city,” Charmayne Saylors of FC Tucker Realty said. “The market prospects are looking good in Marion!”

Some businesses were celebrated for new investment and others were celebrated for their long-time, continued investment in Grant County. Wiley Metal, a metal fabrication company, purchased two new machines, built a new warehouse, and created five jobs; while Bobby Pitman founded and opened the Kingdom, a new live music venue and restaurant in downtown Marion.

According to a news release, the Growth Council has had the privilege of working alongside many of these companies through helping them obtain tax abatements, access state incentives and grant programs, apply for training programs, connect with local suppliers, recruit and retain talent among other objectives.
