Grant County declares public health emergency as county sees 2nd COVID-19 case

The Grant County Commissioners and County Health Department signed an executive order declaring a public health emergency.

This comes in response to there now being two positive cases of COVID-19 in Grant County.

The Indiana State Department of Health has identified 201 positive cases as of Sunday morning.

There are now 7 deaths across the state, with nearly 1,500 Hoosiers tested for the virus.

According to the Grant County Health Department, personnel protective equipment is in critically short supply for all of our healthcare facilities and efforts are underway to secure equipment from the national stockpiles as soon as possible.

The Indiana National Guard has been deployed to assist in the delivery of these supplies.

Food distribution throughout the county will continue next week so there is no need to hoard food or any other household items.

The State of Indiana has made sure shipments of goods can and will continue to arrive in Grant County.

These points of distribution are being conducted by other public and private partners with the full support of the Health Department as long as good social distancing can be maintained.
