The Tyson Foods plant in Logansport will be closed–to allow 22-hundred employees to be tested for coronavirus infection.
Production was suspended for one day Monday for deep cleaning and sanitizing.
Since then, the plant has been running at reduced capacity but even that is expected to stop before the end of this week.
The Cass County health officer, Dr. Dori Ditty, says the health department is pleased with Tyson’s “collaboration” to protect the community.
Tyson says the Logansport plant produces three million pounds pork per day–and helps support more than 250 family farmers across nine states.
