CSA receives funds for COVID-19 relief

The Community School of the Arts has been awarded $26,033.68 to support COVID-19 recovery through the Arts, Cultural & Destination Marketing Organization Grant Program.

Marion, IN, The Community School of the Arts is among 479 Indiana organizations to be awarded funding made possible through a partnership between the Indiana Destination Development Corporation (IDDC) and the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC), providing operational support to local organizations whose operations were disrupted by COVID-19.

Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch announced that nearly $10 million was awarded across the state. “These organizations help enhance the quality of life here in our great state,” Crouch said. “I am pleased to see the arts and cultural sector, which adds to Indiana’s tourism economy, get this funding.”

These funds will be used to support the Community School of the Arts in their effort to continue to ignite a community of potential through arts and creativity, and provide much-needed financial support following the operational disruption caused by COVID-19, according to CSA’s Executive Director Katie Morgan Perez.

“CSA is thankful for Governor Holcomb, Lt. Governor Crouch, the Indiana Arts Commission, and the Indiana Destination Development Corporation for recognizing the impact COVID-19 disruption has had on arts and cultural organizations across the State of Indiana,” Perez said. “For 24 years the Community School of the Arts has brought arts education and enrichment to this community, with students and audience members traveling from across the county and across the state to participate. This funding helps to ensure that CSA can continue to survive, and thrive following these most challenging times.”

The Community School of the Arts began classes on August 17th for the 2020-21 school year and continues to register students. CSA will kick-off their performance season with Little Women November 6th-8th.  For more information or to register for classes visit csa-marion.com.
