Converse woman dies after Tuesday crash

A Converse woman has died and two other people were injured in a Miami County crash on Tuesday.

According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Tony Slocum, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at approximately 7:22 p.m. that day on State Road 19, near Miami County Road 550 East.

According to Slocum, investigations indicate that 69-year-old Steven Armfield, of Sheridan, was driving northbound on State Road 19, while 33-year-old Brandon Eller, of Amboy, was driving southbound in the area.

Officers say, for some unknown reason, Eller’s vehicle went into the northbound lane, crashing into Armfield’s vehicle head-on.

Both Armfield, his passenger, 78-year-old Carolann Pulley, of Converse, and Eller were flown to Fort Wayne hospitals.  Pulley succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Armfield suffered life-threatening injuries. Eller suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations remain ongoing, according to Slocum.
