Marion E-sports Director Travis Hueston has been named to the Indiana High School Esports Network (IHSEN) Advisory Council. According to a press release, Hueston joins seven other innovative council members who are also members of key organizations involved in the e-sports community across the state.
“I’m honored to represent the Marion Giants as a member of the advisory council and am excited to work with the rest of the talented members to help continue the development of the e-sports culture in Indiana and beyond,” said Hueston, who is an instructor for Marion Regional Career Center’s IT and Cybersecurity Academy, as well as its criminal justice program.
Officials say that E-sports is on track to become a dominant sector within the sports industry and an integral part of the Indiana sports ecosystem. Hueston and his staff of several coaches have worked extensively to bring state-of-the-art e-sports opportunities to Marion Community Schools students in grades 5 through 12.
“The technological know-how to play real sports in a digital space now exists, and the demand for these types of programs is growing,” Hueston said. “Our lives are immersed in technology, and e-sports will continue to play a vital role with the power to enhance physical sport and societal connections. I look forward to assisting this strong community and facilitating real opportunities to develop, prosper, and grow with the league.”
