Annalisa Stodghill-Weeks has been appointed to fill the vacant seat on the Marion City Council, left empty by the passing of Councilman Don Batchelor.
A caucus, run by the Grant County Democratic Party, comprised of precinct committee representatives serving the area covered by District 5 of the Marion City Council met on Sunday to make the appointment.
Officials say Stodghill-Weeks will be officially appointed and sworn in as quickly as possible, and before the 30-day deadline outlined in state law for the completion of the appointment. She will fill the remainder of the term, which ends Dec. 31, 2023.
