Center City Neighborhood earns $25k grant for an ADA play area

It looks like a new, more inclusive, playground could be coming to Marion.

The Center City Neighborhood, in partnership with Hope House, has successfully rallied votes and has been awarded a $25,000 grant from State Farm to create an ADA-accessible play space within their upcoming park.

According to the group’s proposal, the park will share land with the I Have a Dream Academy, which does not have a play area.

The proposal states, “an ADA-accessible play space will show the Center City special-needs residents that their needs are seen and valued. Inclusionary play creates opportunity for kids of all abilities to get the physical exercise they need to stay healthy and imaginative, which helps them develop critical cognitive, emotional, physical, and social skills.”

The Center City Neighborhood was one of five State Farm Neighborhood Assist winners in Indiana and one of 40 winners overall.
