Local cadet qualifies for Junior Olympics for the second year in a row

Marion High School JROTC Cadet Alysa Yancey has qualified for the USA Shooting National Junior Olympics for the second year in a row.

Yancey, a member of the school’s air rifle marksmanship team, shot a 590 out of a possible 600 points in the International Air category on Thursday, Jan. 13, earning her an instant spot in the Junior Olympics.

The Junior Olympics will be held May 11-15 in Hillsdale, Michigan.

If you would like to contribute to help cover Yancey’s cost of attending the Junior Olympics, donations can be mailed to the JROTC Department at Marion High School, 750W 26th St. Marion, IN 46953.
