Republicans at the Indiana Capitol are looking to make absentee voting only for people who can’t get to the polls on Election Day. A House committee yesterday approved the plan which would have people swear under penalty of possible perjury that they cannot vote in-person on Election Day or any of the 28 days of early voting in the state. Democrats say the plan will be a burden to people who may not want to wait in line to vote. Republicans say the state needs to update its absentee voting rules in light of the massive availability of early, in-person voting.
