One Dead In Head-on Crash Just West of Marion

One person was killed and three others seriously injured in a head-on crash just after 8 o’clock this morning this morning along Kem Road, just west of the Marion city limits.  And investigators suspect a medical issue may have led to the accident.

Indiana State Police say the driver of one vehicle crossed the center line of Kem Road near Troy Avenue and struck the other vehicle head-on.  The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the three occupants of the other vehicle were trapped inside their vehicle until they were freed by firefighters.

The driver of that vehicle and two young children were flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment.

Grant County Coroner Chris Butche has ordered an autopsy this weekend for the person who died in the crash to determine if a medical issue caused him to lose control and strike the second vehicle.

The names of those involved have not yet been released, pending notification of relatives.
