This is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Indiana. Long before any warnings are issued, National Weather Service offices provide up to a week’s notice of potential severe weather with hazardous weather outlooks. When severe weather becomes more immediate, watches are issued. A Watch is your signal to get set or ready to take safe action. For thunderstorms, the National Weather Service typically issues watches several hours before damaging weather occurs.
