Taylor University’s annual, decades-old cycling tradition Taylathon is Saturday

UPLAND — Taylor University’s annual Taylathon bike races are scheduled for this Saturday at 10 a.m.

The event follows weeks of early-morning practices for Taylor’s senior, junior, sophomore and freshman classes as they prepare to compete against each other in two races – female riders at 10 a.m. and male riders at 11 a.m.

Sponsored by Taylor’s Interclass Council (ICC), Taylathon will be run over a sidewalk course through the heart of campus with the start/finish line between the Reade Liberal Arts Center and the Euler Science Complex.

The race was an annual spring tradition on the Taylor campus for many years until the construction of the Boren Campus Center several years ago mandated scheduling changes in several events, one of which included Taylathon. The race is now held on the final Saturday in the month of September.

Weather conditions Saturday call for a chance of thundershowers. Race organizers would delay Taylathon or reschedule the event if conditions mandate the change.
