This year, you might see or hear about a new type of warning from the National Weather Service — a Snow Squall Warning.
Meteorologist Jason Puma with the NWS in Indianapolis says a snow squall warning will be issued when heavy snow and gusty winds hit one specific area, similar to when they issue a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for a small section of county or counties when a thunderstorm rolls through.
