One Indiana college is changing its nickname. The Valparaiso University Crusaders are now the Valparaiso University Beacons. The school announced the change Tuesday on Twitter, saying the new nickname directly connects to its motto, “In Thy Light We See Light,” and represents the entire Valpo family. Valpo announced in February it would retire the Crusaders name after it was adopted by some white power groups such as the Klan.
